Your enjoyable activity days around Pünderich & Reil!

Holiday on the Mosel loop

Not far from the villages of Pünderich and Reil, the steepest vineyard in Europe, the Calmont, rises up into the sky. The sun shines down on the vineyard, helping the tastiest grapes to grow. Climbing, such as on the Calmont via ferrata, is a favourite pastime for Mosel-loving holidaymakers even on mild autumn and winter days. Hiking at a more relaxed pace on the Moselsteig trailinvolves active enjoyment of nature, because wherever you turn, there are beautiful views over the many Mosel loops or far across the surrounding mountain landscapes at nearly every bend in the trail.

A Mosel holiday is the perfect way to forget the stresses of everyday life, especially if you stay for longer. Experience different stages of the Moselsteig trail during the day and return in the evening to typical Mosel hospitality with wine and feasting - that is the quintessence of living the simple life.

If the weather proves to be less than ideal for outdoor activities, there are plenty of indoor experiences on the Mosel terraces that are worth checking out...starting with wine tasting in one of the regions’ many wineries and vinotheques, taking in an unforgettable trip to the Buddha museum of Traben-Trarbach, the largest of its kind on the continent. Arras Castle is a genuine medieval castle with several art treasures, while the famous Reichsburg Castle in Cochem is a colourful, romantic blend of styles for all those who love fairytales and reveries of times gone by.

You can climb the Reichsburg Cochem from the bustling old town alleys, a short but steep walk literally opens up new and surprising perspectives at your destination. One of the most refreshing views from Pünderich is probably from the mountain ridge on which the Marienburg is enthroned. Here, over the millennia, the river has carved one of the most imposing twists and turns into the mountains that you could possibly imagine. From the Prinzenkopf lookout tower, which is a leisurely stroll from the Marienburg, there is an especially impressive level of visual enjoyment - it feels as though you are immersed in the Mosel atmosphere.
