The gateway to more enjoyment

chweich is one of the main addresses of the Roman wine streets. It links a total of 19 typical Moselle wine locales and major wineries: Trittenheim and Leiwen, Longuich and Mehring, Klüsserath and Bekond, Thörnich and Detzem. The Romans laid the foundations for wine-growing and the lavish architecture that gave rise to villas, temples, wine presses and more here.

Walking in the footsteps of the ancient settlers and heading off on a journey of discovery is wonderful, especially in autumn with crisp nights and days that are often still warm from the sun. A delicate fog sometimes descends on the Mosel valley, bathing the vineyards in a soft light. As it grows colder, hoarfrost covers vines, walnut trees, chestnuts... a fairytale landscape is unveiled.

When the weather is nice and fresh, a hike from Schweich to Longuich and from there on the Moselsteig “Longuicher Sauerbrunnen” side trail is the ideal way to recharge your batteries. If the weather’s not on your side, a trip to the vintage car museum at the Zylinderhaus in Bernkastel-Kues will make your dreams come true, and it's not just for big boys..

See for yourself!
