In 1975, some residents of the old town initiated this festival to draw attention to the urgency of the (now completed) renovation of the old town. From its modest beginnings, it has developed into a large festival that has a good reputation beyond the city's borders. Music and entertainment are offered in all the squares. Here you can still meet real Schängel, hear "Kowelenzer Platt" and possibly even enjoy one or two "Stekkelcher", the little stories from the everyday life of the people of Koblenz, some of which have only been passed down orally.
