moselmusikfestival - Esemble Scherzi Musicali

At Sunday's concert in Kleinich, you can look forward to real milestones in music history, as Giulio Caccini's madrigal collections are regarded as such.

Scherzi Musicali is repeatedly celebrated by audiences and the specialist press for its sophisticated, varied and thematically extremely diverse programme concepts and CDs with a focus on early baroque music. In "Il Concerto Caccini", Nicolas Achten and his ensemble trace the path of the pedagogue Caccini and his daughter Francesca, from the first madrigals to their guest performance at the French court in 1604. Nicolas Achten received his training at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and The Hague, where he studied singing, lute, harpsichord and harp. Achten is sometimes referred to as the "Belgian Orpheus", as he is one of the few classical singers who can accompany himself on a variety of instruments. He would like to revive this historical practice and founded Scherzi Musicali in 2006 with this intention. The Belgian ensemble is one of the most remarkable formations on the young international "early music scene".
