Since 1973, the Forellengut in the Leukbachtal valley near Trassem has been producing sustainably farmed fish without factory farming. The fish have room to swim in clean water in near-natural ponds and are fed high-quality feed. The Forellengut has been awarded the "Assured Sustainability" seal of approval and is a member of "Ebbes von Hei". The range includes rainbow and brown trout, char and other fish species such as sturgeon, perch and zander. The fish shop offers a large selection of fresh and smoked fish as well as fish pies, salads, fish soups and complete fish platters. The Forellengut is a member of Faszination Mosel and supports the idea of Slow Food Germany. Guided tours and tastings are available by prior arrangement.
