It is named after the knight Götz von Berlichingen, who, according to tradition, often stayed there because of the good Kröver Nacktarsch. In the knight's parlour of the hotel there is a knight's armour and a replica of the iron hand of the knight Götz von Berlichingen. The Reichsschenke is considered the "Urschenke" of the Kröver Nacktarsch, as the former landlord "Jungle Dick" made the wine very famous.
