Advent Magic on the Moselle

Attractions such as torchlight swimming and fireworks, unusual things like the region's largest Advent calendar, active things like the St. Nicholas hike and epicurean things like the unmistakable Riesling mulled wine - you'll find it all at the Christmas market in Bernkastel-Kues. More than 40 festively decorated Christmas stalls are spread throughout the medieval old town of Bernkastel. From traditional handicrafts to jewellery, candles and nostalgic bric-a-brac, the gastronomic offer leaves nothing to be desired: tarte flambée, stews, waffles, crêpes or mulled wine.

Icy tides with a chocolatey reward!
The torchlight swim through the icy Moselle has been a highlight for years. More than 100 divers accompany Father Christmas on his way from Kues harbour to the banks of the Moselle in Bernkastel. After arriving safely on the banks of the Moselle, St. Nicholas hands out presents to the little visitors.

The largest Advent calendar in the Moselle region is on the market square in Bernkastel. In the windows of the historic half-timbered house of the Adler pharmacy, a little door opens every evening during Advent, accompanied by a Christmas artistic performance, a song, a poem or a reading ...

A boat trip on the Moselle at Christmas time? Of course! On the weekends, cosy trips with the White Fleet are on the programme. Of course - in keeping with the season - with hot mulled wine and spicy Christmas biscuits.
