The Sektgut St. Laurentius Sektgut has been producing sparkling wine for more than 30 years. Inspired and supported by the winemakers of the partner community Le Mesnil sur Oger, the first Riesling sparkling wine was created in 1982 using the traditional, classic bottle fermentation process. Today 95% of the wines from their own winery are sparkled using the classic champagne method. In addition, there is sparkling wine for other vintners. The flavors Extra Brut (10%) Brut (85%), Extra Dry / Dry (5%) are expanded. Where at first only Riesling was built, the repertoire now also includes the grape varieties Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Auxerrois, Elbling and Chardonnay. The base wines of our sparkling wine are obtained exclusively from healthy, hand-picked grapes by gently pressing whole grapes. The expansion of these wines takes place in stainless steel tanks. The reduction in acidity takes place entirely with the Burgundy varieties, with the Rieslings partly through biological acid degradation. The second fermentation of the wine takes place in the manner of the classic bottle fermentation (Champenoise method). Only champagne yeast imported from Champagne is used here, which gives our sparkling wines this fine pearly Moussaux and the typical taste. The yeast storage time is at least 12 months. Our sparkling wine is rounded off with a fine dose of high-quality wines, mostly Auslese but also Beerenauslese. Our operating philosophy: never stand still, always set new goals by striving for ever higher quality and producing sparkling wines that are based on champagne but are still typical of the Moselle region.

Every beginning was difficult, at the Sektgut St. Laurentius it was rather sparkling, cheerful and explosive. Today it's just fun to keep getting a little better. Our operating data and the numerous awards from our sparkling wine testify to the great development that reached a preliminary climax in 1998 with the DLG award as number one among the sparkling wine producers in Germany. They are classically fermented in the bottle, shaken by hand and matured in traditionally long storage. Every taste is well catered for. Finesse, fascination, varietal character and digestibility are the top priorities. The classic method of bottle fermentation and the joy of treading new paths have not changed since the early days. "In addition to my wife Gisela, my two daughters Katja and Nadine also make a significant contribution", says the father, who are just as enthusiastic about the sparkling delicacies as he is. Today we, the Sektgut St. Laurentius, produce around 80,000 bottles of St. Laurentius Sekt annually from our wines using the classic bottle fermentation method. In addition to producing our own sparkling wine, we have also been making sparkling wine for other vintners since 1993. In this way, numerous fellow winemakers can also use the possibilities of the sparkling wine. The total production sometimes amounts to an impressive 330,000 bottles a year. Riesling is the classic grape variety on the Moselle. Here, too, it supplies the basic wines of the classy, stimulating and invigorating sparkling wine with which the Moselle already delighted connoisseurs a hundred years ago. Sparkling wine specialties from the Burgundy family, as they are famous as Pinot champagne from the neighboring country, complete our range and offer interesting alternatives. The following applies to both wine and sparkling wine: quality through the greatest care and the greatest possible individuality! Finesse and fascination, the character of the variety are the top priority for our family business.
