As a family business, our winery is mostly self-managed. Temporary workers are only needed for the grape harvest or during peak work periods. The winery is managed by master winemaker Jürgen Dany, who took over the business from his parents in 1987 and has switched to the winery selling bottle wine. In recent years, poor quality vineyards have been sold and replaced by top slopes. This means a lot of extra work, but is rewarded with excellent Rieslings that need not shy away from competition.
In countless wine tastings in the winery and also directly at the customer's, a considerable number of wine lovers were enthusiastic about the quality and as Customers are won. Our winery is located in Detzem on the Roman Wine Road, approx. 22 km Moselle down from Trier on a Moselle barrage. At this point the Moselle valley widens and so Detzem lies with several other places in a wide basin between the Hunsrück and the Eifel. In Roman times the Xth milestone stood here on the Trier-Mainz road, which means “ad decimum lapidem” in Latin. Later one called the place "Decima" from which our place name Detzem originated. Today Detzem is a wine and holiday resort with many guest rooms, holiday apartments and good gastronomy.
