Welcome to the historic Hotel Alte Thorschenke and the new guest house Alte Thorschenke in the romantic wine town of Cochem on the Moselle.

As one of the oldest hotels in Germany, built in 1332, the Alte Thorschenke has welcomed guests from all over the world for centuries. It was in these historic walls that the Emperor Napoleon once slept on his campaign for Silesia in the 17th century, and once the monarch Maria Theresa from Austria, who was visiting her German cousin, and made a stopover in Cochem on the Moselle. She liked Cochem so much that she had one of her personal beds set up in the Hotel Alten Thorschenke. 

With its lively history and wine, Cochem magically attracted many musicians and artists such as William Turner on the Moselle. During this time, guests returned to the Hotel Alte Thorschenke, where good wine and fine dining completed his work.

The standard romantic double rooms in the hotel have a historical four-poster bed, all rooms have their own bathroom with bath or shower / toilet

Each suite is individually furnished, with antique originals from the 16th to 18th centuries. Century.

A wooden spiral staircase from 1696 adorns the historic reception.

In order to meet the growing desire to travel to Cochem, the Hotel Alte Thorschenke will have a separate guest house in Endertstraße, the Alte Thorschenke guest house, from 2020

The "Guest house Alte Thorschenke" is located approx. 200 m from the "Hotel Alte Thorschenke", above the Cochem chairlift, and offers a classic, modern ambience with modern amenities for guests from all over the world.

In the "Hotel Alten Thorschenke" you can choose between

  • Romantic double room, some with shower /tub + toilet, TV
  • Antique suites, some with Tub/WC, TV
  • Tower suite for 5 people, with 3 bedrooms, 1 living room with shower / toilet, TV

In the "guest house of the Old Thorschenke" you can choose between

  • Standard single rooms each with shower / toilet, TV
  • Standard double room with shower / toilet, TV
  • Standard quad room (up to 4 people) each with shower / toilet, TV
  • Comfort double rooms each with shower / toilet, TV, balcony or terrace and luxurious box-bonnel-beds

Breakfast as buffet, lunch and dinner will served in the historic restaurant of the main building of the Alte Thorschenke, located in Hotel Alte Thorschenke, breakfast in Room-Rates inklusive

The kitchen is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

We serve fresh, regional delicacies from the menu or as half board.

Enjoy fine wines from the Moselle or local fresh beer on tap on the hotel's terrace in a historic atmosphere.

 

For bicycles and motorcycles, the Hotel Alte Thorschenke & Gästehaus Alte Thorschenke offers accommodation in its own garage, for up to 60 motorcycles or 100 bicycles

WiFi is free of charge for all hotel guests in the entire hotel and guest house.

Directions: Coming from the A48, take the Kaisersesch exit in the direction of Cochem.

Follow the L98 to the railway bridge, after about 100m you will find the hotel "Alte Thorschenke".
