historich oil mill Springiersbach

  • Bengel

The Springiersbach oil mill is one of the few remaining oil mills in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In the lower Alfbachtal there used to be a total of 5 oil mills; it was built in 1856 as part of the Springiersbacher Klostermühle. Among other things, the water power of the mill was used to drive a circular saw, through which the sale of firewood in the winter months could serve as a further source of income. In 1989 the mill was bought by the Bengel and in 2002 oil was pressed again after 40 years of downtime. Today the mill can be visited as part of a guided tour by appointment.
