Makerspace Wittlich

  • Wittlich

What is the Makerspace? The Makerspace Wittlich is an open workshop for children, young people and adults. It opens up a space for creative people, tinkerers and inventors, regardless of individual knowledge and theoretical and craft skills. It also offers free access to crafts and technology and invites digital participation. The Makerspace Wittlich offers a wide range of courses, school clubs and workshops. The focus is on the competent use of various tools, machines and manufacturing processes in combination with suitable materials such as wood, plastic, metal and textiles. Whether private or start-up: the Makerspace Wittlich is a place for ideas and innovations.

The Makerspace is the result of a cooperation between the Wittlich public library, the Haus der Jugend, the Volkshochschule Wittlich Stadt und Land, the Wittlich town council, the multi-generation house and Caritas.
Generous financial support from "Vor Ort für Alle - das Soforthilfeprogramm für Bibliotheken im ländlichen Raum" (On site for everyone - the emergency aid programme for libraries in rural areas) from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media made it possible to start in the new shop at Neustraße 6- 12 in Wittlich. The task and aim of the facility is to give everyone the opportunity to realise their ideas using modern technology, to get to know digital machines and to work with them.
The Makerspace is aimed at children and young people, but also at adults. It is intended to be a place of meaningful activity, learning, creativity and implementation of ideas for everyone.
