Lütz is a picturesque little village that nestles idyllically in the hollow of the Lützbach, surrounded by extensive forests, meadows and meadows. The flair of the village is essentially shaped by the historical buildings, which are not only limited to the village centre with its vicarage, church and town hall. The oldest building in Lütz is the hunting lodge of the Lords of Eltz dating from 1541.The village has about 350 inhabitants and is situated about 3 km from the Moselle in a beautiful side valley to the Hunsrück.Slate mining in Lütz used to play an important role. Since 2005, there has been a slate quarry hiking trail. It leads along a 7 km long circular trail past the old slate tunnels, in which from around the middle of the 19th century until 1953 many men from Lütz tried to extract the black gold of slate from the mountain through hard backbreaking work.
