Römerturm

  • Kaisersesch

From the Römerturm you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Eifel landscape. The tower was built in 1997 on the remains of a former watchtower on the eastern edge of Kaisersesch.

In 1997, the "Eifelverein Ortsgruppe Kaisersesch" (Kaisersesch branch of the Eifel Club) built this Roman tower in the style of South German lime towers. It stands on the connecting line between the Waldkapelle (forest chapel) and the Burgberg (castle hill) in the Hambuch district. Watchtowers stood at both places, as exposed wall remains from the 3rd century A.D. still attest to today. The watchtowers were used to monitor streets and crossroads.

The Roman tower is an ideal spot for a short rest during a hike over the Eifel heights.
