The citizens of Zell have set up a worthy monument to her world-famous wine. "Zeller Schwarze Katz" with this fountain. The interesting fountain square in the centre of the town and a location for many events. The fountain itself was carved out of Eifel basalt stone in 1936. "He steiht ferm wie'n Zeller us'm Hamm" - this is where a Zell man from the Hamm stands fast - this is the inscription on the fountain recalling the historical day in 1532 when the townspeople defended Trier against attack by Franz von Sickingen and went off to Trier to fight. The defence was successful with the courageous men of Zell.
