You will find the Geierslay Winery in Wintrich on the Moselle. The winegrowing family has been dedicated to winegrowing for generations. The Geierslay is a former monastery estate of Himmerod Abbey, first mentioned in 1254. The Kilburg family has been involved in winegrowing since 1465, making them one of the oldest winegrowing families on the Moselle. The grape varieties grow in the vineyards of Wintrich and Piesport. Riesling, the most frequently cultivated grape variety, grows in the sites of Wintricher Großer Herrgott, Wintricher Ohligsberg, Wintricher Geierslay and Piesporter Treppchen. Burgundy and the red wine varieties can be found in the Wintricher Geierslay and Wintricher Großer Herrgott sites. Rivaner and Kerner are grown in the Wintricher Großer Herrgott site. You can taste the wines in the Straußwirtschaft of the winery. On the terrace you have a view over the Moselle. Or you can have a wine tasting in the winery.
