MOSEL – Fascination Holiday

The Mosel: Still there for you!

Dear friends of the Mosel, We are both thankful and pleased to say that the serious storms of recent days largely bypassed our holiday region, with no significant damage to report.

Given the many enquiries we have received regarding the accessibility of the Mosel region, it is clear that many people are unsure whether or a holiday or weekend break is possible or even appropriate at this time. We would therefore like to dispel the uncertainty by saying that all guests are very welcome, and that holidays are certainly possible. Trips that are already booked may be undertaken without hesitation.

Hotels, guest houses, holiday apartments, restaurants, wine stores and the main sights are all open for business and bookings, while pleasure cruises have resumed on the Moselle and the Saar.

Most of the camping and camper van sites situated near riverbanks have now reopened; however, limitations may apply in some instances owing to the clean-up operation. Please check with the operators.

The Moselle Cycle Path is open almost continuously from Perl to Koblenz, with the one exception of the Ehrang district of Trier. Between Trier and Schweich, please use the signposted secondary route for the Moselle Cycle Path (via Trier, Ruwer, Kenn and Schweich). The Saar Cycle Trail and all other cycle paths are fully accessible.

Stage 5 of the Moselsteig trail (Trier-Schweich) is blocked. Otherwise, the Moselsteig trail is also fully open from Perl to Koblenz. Instead of tacking the Trier-Schweich stage, we would recommend crossing this section by train before picking up the hike via the Moselsteig side trail of Longuicher Sauerbrunnen.

All in all, there is nothing to prevent you visiting the Mosel region – in fact, you will be helping to get the region back on its feet.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
