8 Stunden Wurzellauf

8-Hour Root Run 2026      ( Charity Run )

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026

Location: 54317 Farschweiler
Time: 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM

Bib number distribution: from 07:00 AM ( Start-/ Finish area )                                                                                              

Distances: run as many laps as you want or can during the time (each lap = approx. 5 km with approx. 170 meters of elevation gain)

Additionally, you can start whenever you want. Only those who want to compete for the 50k rating must start at 09:00 AM

Entry fee: 25 euros (this is only to cover costs, all other proceeds will be donated to a good cause) 

Participant limit: 400 participants

The Challenge within the Challenge:

Everyone can run/hike for 8 hours as far as they want. After each lap, you decide whether to continue running, take a break, or stop. Just test yourself at the beginning of the season and see how fit you already are. This is the primary goal.

There is a challenge if you want to accept it... whoever completes 10 laps = 50 km with approx. 1700 meters of elevation gain first wins. :-) The first three women and men with 50k will be honored with prizes. ( Mandatory start at 09:00 AM!!!! )

Course
The course is a loop track. Each lap consists of about 5 km with approximately 170 meters of elevation gain. The course mainly follows a fine, very rooty trail. There are short sections on gravel forest roads. The course will be marked with arrows/signs. Since the route is a part section of a dream loop of the Saar-Hunsrück Trail, there may also be hikers on the course. Consideration must be given to these hikers during the run.  The course is not officially measured.

The entry fee includes:
Refreshments after each lap in the start/finish area
Finisher gift
Certificate for printing

Mandatory equipment:

Trail shoes  (the course can be very muddy and slippery due to the roots)

Weather-appropriate clothing

Your own cup (can be placed at the VP)

Checkpoints:

After each lap, the participant passes through the start/finish area. The chip records the passage time.

Disqualification:

Anyone who intentionally disposes of litter on the course, shortens the course, or attempts to cheat in any other way will be immediately removed from the race and disqualified.

Timing / Lap Counting:

The timing/lap counting is done via a chip from Eventbook24, and it is ranked by gross time, or by running closures, based on completed laps. Only complete laps count. There will be no measurement for remaining meters. In the case of the same number of laps, the time of the last completed lap will decide.

All results from 45 km will be transferred to the DUV.

Award Ceremony:

The first three women and the first three men with the most laps after 8 hours will be honored (in case of tied laps, the time of the last completed lap will decide)

They will receive trophies.

DNS (Start Waiver)
The bib number is not transferable. If canceled by 01.02.26, the entry fee minus a 5 euro processing fee will be refunded. From 02.02.26, half of the entry fee will be refunded. As of 01.03.2026, no refunds will be possible.
No refund of the entry fee will be made for non-participation. A replacement runner can be named within the registration period.


Every runner and all helpers are insured through the Leichtathletik-Verband Rheinland (LVR)!!
