Auf den Spuren der Klüsserather Juden-ge(h)denken - wandernder Vortrag

In the Footsteps of the Klüsserath Jews - Wandering Lecture

Friday, October 9, 2026(Make-up date from 26.06.):
"In the Footsteps of the Klüsserath Jews"
commemoration - wandering lecture

A village, many stories – and traces that reach up to today. For centuries, Jewish families lived in Klüsserath, whose daily lives, work, and faith shaped the community life. A separate prayer house on the main street served religious life, while the synagogue in Leiwen was visited for holidays. In this special commemoration, you will embark on a quest for traces together with Hermann Erschens and René Richtscheid:
The path from former Jewish life in the village leads further to the graves of Klüsserath families in the Jewish cemetery in Leiwen. The stations make history visible, telling stories of life paths and destinies.
Those who cannot or do not wish to walk the entire route can also visit the individual sites independently.

Date: Fri., 09.10., 3:30 p.m.

Speakers: Hermann Erschens (Retired Secondary School Principal), René Richtscheid (M.A.)

Meeting point: Parking lot in front of the Catholic Church, Klüsserath
Participation is free of charge, advance registration is not required.

Organizer: Cooperation of AG Gemeinsam Gedenken Gestalten with the VHS Schweich, the Parish of St. Laurentius on the Roman Wine Road, and the Emil-Frank-Institut. Website www.juedisches-leben-vgschweich.de
