At the turn of the 20th century, Traben-Trarbach was considered the second largest wine trading center in Europe after the French Bordeaux. In the second half of the 19th century, the capacity of the Traben-Trarbach wine cellars was expanded more than in any other Mosel municipality, leading to large parts of the town center being built underground. Today, the Traben-Trarbach underworld invites you on an exciting journey through the history of traditional viticulture and old cellar techniques, as well as wine tastings and culinary delights within historic walls.
