Between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, the roads between the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Konz and the Saarland town of Merzig are closed to all motor vehicle traffic, allowing cyclists and skaters to freely enjoy the approximately 50-kilometer-long route. Those who wish to travel in one direction or in sections can take the train that runs parallel to the route.

The lower Saartal is characterized by a green landscape with wooded slopes, rugged rocks, meadows, and floodplains, as well as sunny vineyards. It is perfectly suited for the car-free experience day.
