Car-free adventure day SAAR-PEDAL

On the 3rd Sunday in May, the Saartal is entirely dedicated to cyclists, skaters, pedestrians, and hikers. From 10 AM to 6 PM, the roads between the city of Konz and the Saarland city of Merzig are closed to all motor vehicle traffic, allowing free passage for cyclists, inline skaters, and walkers. The special appeal of SAAR PEDAL arises from the combination of uninterrupted cycling enjoyment in beautiful landscapes and a varied, family-friendly program that is offered in the twelve action zones along the route between Merzig and Konz. In the towns of Konz, Filzen, Kanzem, Wiltingen, Schoden, Ockfen, Saarburg, Serrig, Staustufe Serrig, Saarhölzbach, Mettlach, and Merzig, the cities and local communities, associations and groups, as well as winemakers and restaurateurs put together a diverse range of activities. The Saartal is also easily accessible by train and bus. A special train schedule will be established for the event day. For more information, visit www.saar-obermosel.de/radfahren/saar-pedal.

The third Sunday in May belongs to all cycling enthusiasts, as the popular car-free experience day Saar-Pedal takes place then.

Between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, the roads between the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Konz and the Saarland city of Merzig are closed to all motor vehicle traffic, providing free passage for cyclists and skaters, who can fully enjoy the approximately 40-kilometer-long route. Those who wish to travel only in one direction or in sections can switch to the train that runs parallel to the route.

The lower Saar Valley is characterized by a green landscape with wooded slopes, rugged rocks, meadows, and floodplains, as well as sunny vineyards. It is therefore perfectly suited for the car-free experience day.

The special appeal of Saar-Pedal arises from the combination of undisturbed cycling pleasure in beautiful scenery and a varied program offered at many stops along the route. In the towns of Konz, Filzen, Kanzem, Wiltingen, Schoden, Ockfen, Saarburg, Serrig, Serrig barrage, Saarhölzbach, Mettlach, and Merzig, the cities and local communities, clubs and groups, as well as winemakers and restaurateurs present a diverse range of offerings.
In around 10 activity zones, cycling tourists, inline skaters, and walkers can indulge in culinary delights from kitchens and cellars. The colorful supporting program with live music and many activities for children also provides plenty of reasons to stop along the way.

The Saar Valley is easily accessible by train and bus. A special train schedule will be established for the event day.

SAAR PEDAL makes a statement to leave the car at home and switch to bicycles for short distances and leisure activities.
