For over five decades, Wishbone Ash has represented melodic, guitar-heavy rock with a distinctive character. Their trademark is the harmonious interplay of two lead guitars – the legendary Twin-Lead-Guitar parts – which combine powerful energy with catchy melodies and have become a defining element of rock history.
After their debut album Wishbone Ash (1970), the band made a landmark contribution to progressive rock with the groundbreaking Argus (1972). Numerous other studio and live releases followed, further developing their multifaceted style between British folk, American jazz, R&B, and classic hard rock. Significant works include Live Dates, There's the Rub, and New England, as well as later albums such as The Power of Eternity, Elegant Stealth, and Coat of Arms. In 2023, the reissue Live Dates LIVE was also released.
Wishbone Ash is regarded as one of the most influential guitar bands of the genre. Their characteristic Twin-Guitar sound has inspired bands such as Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden, and Opeth.
To this day, the band enchants not only with their musical legacy but also with new albums, fresh songs, and creative development – a vibrant example of how timeless melodic rock can sound.
