David Lübke Trio - New Songs-New Times

The singer-songwriter combines folk, poetry and stories from his travels. He presents his album ‘Travelling Singer’ - fresh and authentic!

Who actually writes songs like ‘The moon has risen’ today? The answer is David Lübke. This singer-songwriter newcomer has what it takes to lead the tradition of the old singer-songwriters into the future. This alert dreamer writes beautiful songs full of poetry and humour and looks out of his window at the world. He describes this world in his concerts with pointed stories that he has collected in abundance on his travels. For example, on his so-called ‘Liedermacher-Walz’, where he travelled through the country with his guitar and hitchhiked and was allowed to look into people's homes and souls while offering mini-concerts at their doors. This idea reveals a lot about the likeable musician, whose lyrics are always about the core of humanity. Musically, he draws on folk and pop music, which makes his songs contemporary. He sings on guitar and 5-string banjo and has found two sophisticated accompanists in Filip Sommer (mandolin/viola) and Moritz Brümmer (cello) to enhance his compositions. David Lübke writes new songs for new times. Unpretentious, unconventional, marvellous! He is currently presenting his new album ‘Fahrender Sänger’ (Travelling Singer) on which, in addition to his own compositions, he also performs folk songs that he has collected on his songwriting tour throughout Germany. Rarely has German folk music sounded as lively and fresh as it does here!
