State Parliament honors Knight's Fall Koblenz
The Rittersturz will be designated as "Site of the Democracy History of Rhineland-Palatinate".
The Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament, represented by Parliament President Matthias Lammert, will honor the historically significant site on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Forum Confluentes.
The designation "Site of the Democracy History of Rhineland-Palatinate" has been awarded by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament since 2024. Central locations of the democracy history of the federal state are honored. Most recently, in 2025, the Hambach Castle, as the venue of the Hambach Festival of 1832, and the Fruchthalle in Kaiserslautern, the seat of the "Provisional Government of the Palatinate" in 1849, were awarded.
The award ceremony will be accompanied by a festive event in the Forum Confluentes in Koblenz. After an introduction by Parliament President Matthias Lammert, journalist Mirko Drotschmann ("MrWissen2Go") will present the history of the Rittersturz Conference and its significance for our democracy. Additionally, a panel discussion will debate with Mirko Drotschmann, the head of the Koblenz City Archive Dr. Katharina Thielen, Dr. Tim Müller, advisor for "Democracy Land Rhineland-Palatinate" at the State Agency for Political Education, and Professor Dr. Harald Biermann, the president of the Foundation House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Mayor of the City of Koblenz, David Langner, will deliver a greeting.
