When dolls need ‘first aid’.... the doll clinic visits the Machern Monastery Museum
In the past, it was often the hair salons where one would take their favorite doll or stuffed animal for repair, but today it is not quite so simple. Finding a doll doctor is often the last hope for a family heirloom. The doll should be able to pass on its story and experiences to the next generations.
Bringing back one's childhood memories or those of the grandparents is something special. The sentimental value is often incalculable. The doll doctor of the doll clinic restores using original spare parts. And this applies to all brands and materials. There are so many different materials to consider:
including papier-mâché, paper-mâché, porcelain, bisque porcelain, parian porcelain, celluloid, compo dolls, hard plastic, vinyl…
… every beloved piece should look like it used to and is repaired with the original materials.
To make the diagnosis as precise as possible, it is helpful to receive an email in advance describing the symptoms and ideally including a picture. Please send this to: diepuppenklinik@yahoo.de or info@klostermachern.de.
Minor interventions are carried out on-site – so to speak, outpatient – while larger interventions will be performed in the doll clinic after consultation.
