Guided Tour

A Masterpiece at the Old Harbor - Tour Above and Below St. Irminen

Power women among themselves: When culture and wine ambassador Carmen Müller invites you to one of her enjoyable discovery tours, it is clear that no eye and no throat will remain dry. For she combines her wine tastings with a wealth of insider knowledge as well as one or the other fun fact. This is also the case during her walk around the grounds of St. Irminen, which is named after an impressive woman: Saint Irmina, the almost great-great-grandmother of Charlemagne, co-founder of the Abbey of Echternach, and the second abbess of the women's monastery Oeren, which was later named after her. Oeren, in turn, referred to the foundations of the ancient storage facilities from the Roman heyday of Trier, the horrea. Carmen Müller will also introduce this - at the latest when it comes to the wine cellar of the Vereinigten Hospitien, one of the oldest wineries in our wine-growing region and a founding member of the VDP. Due to its Roman foundations, it can call itself "the oldest wine cellar in Germany," but it also shows a very special interplay of wine and architecture in the newly designed wine shop.

All of this can be seen in this special tour, including exciting insider information about the Hospitien area, starting with Emperor Augustus through Irmina and Napoleon to the grape eagle. And of course, a wine must not be missing: During a final sip in the wine cellar itself, participants will also breathe in a good piece of fluid history.
