Elections in the age of AI: ethics, influence and responsibility

Speaker: Dr Nicole Thiemer, RPTU Kaiserslauter-Landau Elections! - A situation in which decisions are made that influence all of our lives - from the personal to the social level. But how will elections change when artificial intelligence intervenes ever more deeply in the processes that shape opinions and guide voting decisions? In a world where algorithms analyse data, create content and disseminate it in a targeted manner, the question arises: where is the line between useful informative progress and questionable influence? AI can make campaigns more efficient, but it can also amplify disinformation, manipulate opinions and steer us unconsciously. How can we make conscious, responsible decisions in the midst of this technological dynamic? The aim of the lecture is to shed light on and discuss ethical questions and challenges associated with the influence of AI on elections.
