Max Stiller: Constructivism and Landscape
New exhibition at the Municipal Gallery of the Amüseum at the Waterfall.
The Cologne artist Max Stiller presents his latest exhibition titled “Constructivism and Landscape – New Visual Language Dialects” from February 16 to May 25. The exhibition invites visitors to engage with the question of how spaces can be interconnected using geometric visual languages.
Stiller, known for his innovative works in the field of spatial geometry, develops his own precise visual language dialect in his works. Based on the systematics of image and spatial deconstruction, he describes his style as “Trigonometric Cubism.” The triangle, as a central building block, serves as a starting point for the decomposition and connection of spaces, regardless of motive or color.
Diving into new spatial dimensions
In reference to the Cubism of classical modernism, Stiller examines the depiction and decomposition of objects into geometric forms. Furthermore, he explores new possibilities of spatial representation. The cubist visual language, combined with elements of futurism, constructivism, and concrete art, serves as a tool for his artistic vision.
Stiller’s works are characterized by a close connection between object and surrounding space. In an overarching space, imaginary bodies penetrate and deconstruct the object, assigning it to different spaces.
The motifs in the exhibited works stem from both objective reality and non-objective imagination. Real and imaginary spaces can stand in different contexts to each other.
“The image of what we perceive as objective is, in truth, an assembly of non-objective forms of concrete nature, which only in their entirety create a concept of visual reality in our association,” says Max Stiller.
The artist invites you to the opening on Sunday, February 16 at 11 a.m. at the Amüseum at the Waterfall.
The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the Amüseum:
Daily 11:00 – 16:00. Closed on Saturdays. The Amüseum will also be closed from March 02 to March 04, 2025.
