Gilles Grethen Quartet & Dreispiellos | Jazz im Brunnenhof

Open-Air Music Festival

Regional evening

Before Gilles Grethen discovered his passion for guitar and jazz, he received classical training on the violin and clarinet. With the Luxembourg drummer Michael Meis, the Trier trumpeter Vincent Pinn and the Italian bassist Gabriele Basilico, the Gilles Grethen Quartet, inspired by classical symphonic music and its enormous richness of colour, takes its listeners on a musical journey through lyrical melodies and captivating rhythms, underlined by Grethen's warm guitar sound, motifs developed in unison and bold improvisations. The fact that there is one less person on stage in ‘Dreispiellos’ is already indicated by the band's name. However, the joy of complex compositions is just as great. Singer Silvia Berthold, guitarist Klaus Lieser and double bassist Peter Kasper demonstrate their stylistic versatility in a varied selection of songs that move between jazz, blues, folk, country, pop, rock'n'roll and soul.
