Gladiator gesucht! | Trier für Treverer

Family workshop in the amphitheatre

They were celebrated, but also despised. They were stars – but also slaves. Just moments ago applauded by the roaring crowd, just a few minutes later dependent on the grace of the audience.

But how did Roman gladiators really live? How difficult was it to fight as well as they did? What was actually more important: courage or skill, strength or strategy? And did gladiators really die constantly in the fights? Nowhere else in Germany can you experience this as well as in the Trier Amphitheater. With actor and gladiator Robin Schnarr-bach, you will move above and below ground through the arena, get to see and touch the equipment of a real gladiator live, and immerse yourself in the time of over 1800 years ago with some exercises. Authentically, you and your accompanying adults will become gladiators for a time – but don’t worry: no one will be enslaved, of course.
