Today
Award-winning emerging photography
For the 22nd time, “gute aussichten – young German photography” honors its prize winners this year. The core of the project, founded in 2004, is an annual competition for final projects from all German universities and academies that offer a degree in photography.
The current awardees are Brenda Alamilla, Daniela Duckwitz, Lynn Gerstmair, Bob Jones, Sophie Nawova Meyer, Steffen Niers, Anissa Tavara, and Gerd Waliszewski.
The new cohort once again tackles current questions of our time and explores the diverse possibilities, techniques, and genres of photography and video. The focus is on familial quests for trace, the constitution of the self in photography, experiments with new, biologically degradable image materials, human-induced species extinction, forms of sensational journalism and misogyny in Mexico, the lives of young people in the Ukraine war, and photography as a medium against forgetting.
