 Easter Egg Tipping at the Wine Witch Fountain

It is believed that egg tipping was established in Winningen around 175 years ago. The venue at that time was what is now known as Osterstraße, which is widely thought to have derived its name from this fact. Here, the townspeople would gather after the Easter church service to indulge in this soon-to-become traditional custom. Later on, the egg tipping moved to Fährstraße, where the Easter Sunday festivities took place in front of the house of the well-known egg vendor "Egg-Fritz" among the older residents of Winningen. After World War II, the tradition came to an end, but it was soon rediscovered and initially revived in smaller circles in various Winningen inns, before the then Tourist Association decided in 1970 to give it a public framework again. Since then, egg tipping in its current form has taken place annually on Easter Sunday in the wine courtyard and has been organized in recent years by the Drummer and Piper Corps of Winninge.

Join in the old custom of egg tipping, an entertaining competition featuring many thousands of colorful Easter eggs. The cheerful brass band will provide great atmosphere alongside a Winningen specialty, egg wine. Little visitors will look forward to the Easter Bunny kindergarten.
11:00 AM - 6:00 PM around the historic marketplace. As always, the Löf Music Association will provide the musical entertainment.
