Judith Rakers in conversation about media life & home farming – personal, inspiring, and approachable.
In conversation with Father Albert Seul OP, Judith Rakers will talk about her life as a moderator and her passion for "Home Farming".
About Judith Rakers:
Judith Rakers was born on January 6, 1976, in Paderborn and grew up in Bad Lippspringe. After graduating from high school, she studied journalism, communication science, German studies, and history at the University of Münster. Her journalistic career began at the radio, including at Radio Hochstift and Antenne Münster.
In 2004, she switched to television, initially moderating the "Hamburg Journal" at NDR. Since 2005, she has been the presenter of the "Tagesschau," and from 2008, she was part of the main evening edition at 8 PM. She gained great popularity in 2011 by moderating the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, together with Anke Engelke and Stefan Raab. For this, she was awarded the German Television Award.
Since 2010, she has also been moderating the talk show "3 nach 9" alongside Giovanni di Lorenzo. In 2014, she was voted the most popular news anchor in Germany.
After her separation, she moved to a farmhouse near Hamburg in 2018 and passionately dedicated herself to **Home Farming**. She grows over 60 types of fruits and vegetables herself, keeps chickens, and lives largely self-sufficiently. This project has become a heartfelt concern and has also received media attention. In 2021, she published the book *Homefarming – Self-Sufficiency Without a Green Thumb*, in which she provides practical tips for getting started with self-sufficiency. She also runs her own website and social media channels where she shares her experiences.
In addition to her news and talk formats, Judith Rakers is also known as the moderator of **“Wunderschön”** (WDR), a travel show in which she regularly presents special places in Germany and Europe since 2021 – authentically, close to nature, and with a personal touch.
In 2024, she bid farewell to the “Tagesschau” to focus on new projects – including her home farming commitment, entrepreneurial activities, and her role as a moderator in sustainable and relatable formats.
Today, Judith Rakers stands for journalistic competence, media versatility, and a sustainable lifestyle that she communicates authentically and inspiringly.
