Open-Air Music Festival
Even if you pronounce her Polish surname ‘Gwik’, ‘happiness’ is the best way to describe the performances of 28-year-old jazz bassist Kinga Głyk, who taught herself to play the bass at the age of 12. Happiness about her dynamic solos on stage, happiness about the respectful euphoria for her band colleagues, happiness about her grooving and cheerful original compositions, which don't show in the slightest that this is an artist who has always been musically supported by her parents but has perfected her skills purely through self-tuition. Inspired by the melodic, narrative sound of Jaco Pastorius, Kinga Głyk has been touring throughout Europe, South America and the USA since 2023 and has already been nominated for the German Jazz Award and honoured with the Polish music prize Koryfeusz, among others. There are always two sides to happiness in music: happiness on and off stage.
