Herb excursion in the context of biodiversity rocks the Moselle
The Moselle region is not only known for viticulture but also for its diverse fauna and flora, which is unique in parts. Many rare, protected, and endangered animal and plant species thrive on the slopes of the steep regions. This is partly due to the interconnection of various habitats, whether riverbanks, sunlit valleys, or adjacent forests. During a herb walk, we will get to know the flora of the Middle Moselle in different habitats and particularly look at the world of our native plants. What can be found where, what distinguishing features can help identify the plants, and what ecological purpose do all these species serve? Of course, we will also take a look at the applications that are of human interest – which wild plants are edible, suitable as medicinal plants, and what toxic candidates are there that one should be aware of? During a varied herb walk in Alf on the Moselle, we will address exactly these questions.
