The Weimar Republic (1919 – 1933) has become strangely familiar to us: as a laboratory of modern times, as a warning against the destruction of democracy, as a mirror of our present. Thomas Hertfelder illuminates central issues of the Republic such as political violence, inflation, and authoritarianism. What can we learn from this? Are we dancing on the volcano again? Based on the latest research, the lecture invites dialogue about questions that are once again troubling us today.
