Ledisi | Jazz im Brunnenhof - Jazz in the Courtyard

Open-Air Music Festival

There are voices that resonate through generations – powerful, unyielding, immortal. Voices that pave the way and resonate not in silence, but after. In her youth, the singer Ledisi, born in New Orleans, listened to these voices. Today, she has become one of them. And she has done so more than successfully: Grammy winner, 14-time Grammy nominee, celebrated by John Legend as “one of the greatest singers in the world, period.” And still carrying the voices in her head, whose message she continues to convey.

She embodied Mahalia Jackson in Selma and Remember Me, sang Nina Simone in Ledisi Sings Nina, played Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight. Now, with For Dinah, she pays homage to the greatest: Dinah Washington, who won the Grammy for “What a Diff'rence a Day Makes” in 1959 as the “Queen of the Blues” and overcame racial barriers. For Ledisi, who also operates within the resonance of jazz and R&B, a true inspiration. In the courtyard, she will demonstrate why the New York Times described her own vocal range as “breathtaking” and why Dinah Washington not only gave everyone the opportunity to change each day – but did it herself with her own voice.
