LIKE JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH describes in his "Draft of a Well-Ordered Church Music" 1734, he envisioned the performance of the Christmas story in a relatively small ensemble.
A similar constellation can be heard at the concert in the Baroque Hall of the Machern Monastery. This interpretation allows for a special clarity and plasticity of sound, which great ecclesiastical performances can hardly achieve. In the spirit of Bach, four soloists perform, who also sing the choirs, complemented by eight additional vocal soloists and twenty instrumentalists with historical instruments.
With the highest musical artistry, lautten compagney berlin, under its founder and director Wolfgang Katschner, dedicates itself to this interpretation of parts I/III and VI of Bach's Christmas Oratorio. Participants: Johanna Kaldewei - soprano, Julia Böhme - alto, Christian Pohlers - tenor, Florian Götz - bass, the Athos Ensemble, the orchestra of machernbaroque 26 lautten compagney berlin on original instruments under the direction of Wolfgang Katschner
