Major State Exhibition 2025

The Roman emperor and philosopher Marcus Aurelius is considered the epitome of a good ruler. But what was life like for the man whose "introspections" later became world literature? Who was he, what characterised him and what was the ideal image of a good ruler? Following the sensational success of the exhibitions on Constantine the Great (2007), Nero (2016) and the fall of the Roman Empire (2022), the UNESCO city of Trier is once again inviting visitors to a captivating national exhibition: The major show focuses on the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius (121-180 AD).
