Mosel Music Festival: Avi Avital & Omer Klein

Avi Avital is undoubtedly one of the greatest masters of his field of our time and is the first mandolin soloist to be nominated for a Grammy Award. For our opening concert, the charismatic mandolin player, together with his congenial partner Omer Klein, will dive into classical music while also exploring jazz.

Omer Klein belongs to the elite of contemporary jazz pianists. For his "limitless" music (New York Times), he is celebrated by the audience and acclaimed by critics: After receiving the ECHO award in 2018, he received two nominations for the German Jazz Award 2023 – in the categories "Piano" and "Live Act".

The two exceptional musicians have developed a program full of finesse and depth, merging original compositions, Israeli songs, and very free interpretations of jazz pieces. And even more unites the two musicians: they love Bach. Thus, Avital's mandolin arrangement of Bach's Partita for solo violin will be performed, along with Klein's improvisational artistry, leading to a completely unique interpretation of the piece.
