A young man inherits an old, valuable guitar. Since he cannot play the instrument, he wants to return it to the guitar maker. However, the maker advises him to take lessons and to place the guitar beside him while sleeping – it will then blend into his dreams. And so the young man dreams of famous guitarists and the influence of music on world history. The nine episodes are a poetic blend of reality and fantasy – delivered with empathetic wit and great expertise by Stefan Wilkening. The versatile actor and outstanding audiobook speaker is a true “Mosel native” – having grown up in Hatzenport, where he will also present “A History of the World in 9 Guitars” in the old bottling hall of Pauly-Rath together with the guitar duo Christian Gruber and Peter Maklar: from the Pharaohs to the Incas in Peru, the efforts of the Sun King Louis XIV to learn guitar playing, to the modern virtuosos Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix. What a world journey!
