Mülheim Cultural Circle: Simon Wahl & Crossing Strings – fingerstyle guitar

Guitar magic at its finest: Simon Wahl & Crossing Strings captivate with a virtuosic crossover of classical, jazz & pop.

Simon Wahl
The concerts of Simon Wahl are an experience for the senses. The guitar virtuoso, celebrated as the "Master of Melodies," takes his audience on a journey into new musical worlds with impressive soundscapes.
Born in Bonn in 1989 and now living in Vienna, the musician has played well over 500 concerts in nine countries in recent years. Awards like the "Acoustic Grand Slam" in Freiburg underscore his extraordinary talent. He regularly shares the stage at international guitar festivals with renowned artists such as Adam Rafferty, Thomas Leeb, or Don Ross.
In 2015, Simon Wahl completed his pedagogical and artistic concert guitar studies with distinction under Prof. Michael Langer at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz.
As a "One Man Band," he combines bass slapping, percussion, fingerpicking, and melody playing into a distinctive crossover of pop, rock, classical, and flamenco. With innovative playing techniques, he extracts sound colors from his guitar that go far beyond the expected and consistently surprise.
Listening, enjoying, marveling – this is the hallmark of his music.

Crossing Strings
A duo that could hardly be more different – and that's precisely why they harmonize perfectly: Carina Maria Linder, committed to classical guitar since the age of eight and internationally awarded with the Cato Guitar Duo, meets Markus Schlesinger, an internationally touring fingerstyle guitarist and founder of the Vienna Fingerstyle Festival.
Together they present a versatile program of specially arranged classical, jazzy, and poppy pieces. Well-known evergreens, rediscovered musical treasures, and two distinctive voices combine to create a performance that impresses with precision, intensity, and playful ease.
With their bridge between classical, jazz, and popular music, the two artists create a multifaceted sound world that transports the audience to new musical spheres.
