“Love is the heartbeat of the entire universe” – this is the globally insightful acknowledgment of that powerful feeling we call love, as expressed in Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Throughout history, there has been an extraordinarily happy relationship between the partners of music and love. The former provides comfort to the latter or encourages her, articulating her emotions in words and tones. Love, in turn, reciprocates these gestures with inspiration and material for musical masterpieces – since the beginning of time.

As we enter the year 2026, the Theater Koblenz and the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie invite you to a festive New Year’s concert in tribute to love – in all its forms. Whether dark or bubbling, reciprocated or unheard: for all facets of this most diverse and often sung of all feelings, there is a suitable soundtrack. In a program that ranges from opera to operetta to musical, chief conductor Marcus Merkel, along with soloists from the Theater Koblenz, will present a splendid selection of the most beautiful love songs and arias.
As a moderator, director Markus Dietze will accompany the audience in a witty and heartfelt manner through this homage to love into the new, unwritten year.
