As part of the "Day of Open Monuments" under the motto "Networks: Monuments & Infrastructure," the State Monument Klause will open on Sunday, 13.09.26 from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. (last entrance at 3.30 p.m.) with free admission.
As a special highlight, two free and exciting guided tours with guide Hans-Jürgen Knopp will be offered on this day:
11:00 a.m.:"Paths to the Cultural Plateau Kastel-Staadt during the Celtic and Roman period” (approx. 90 min.)
2:30 p.m.: "A View from the Klause – Transportation Routes in Transition” (approx. 60 min.)
Meeting point: at the entrance to the Klause
Participation in the tours is free of charge and does not require registration!
Furthermore, there is an opportunity for children and families to try out the new Jumpstone in the Klause area.
The robust jumping cube playfully combines movement with knowledge transfer: By jumping, a listening station is activated, which operates entirely without an external power source. In a short time, an entertaining narration about the history of the Klause unfolds.
The burial site of the Blind King John of Bohemia is a masterpiece of the famous Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and is thus one of the most significant monuments in the Saar-Obermosel region.
The Day of Open Monuments® always takes place on the second Sunday in September. The event is coordinated nationwide by the German Foundation for Monument Protection (DSD). Since 1999, the DSD has introduced the Day of Open Monuments under a different motto each year.
