Open Monument Day® at the Klause National Monument

As part of the nationwide ‘Open Monument Day®’, the Klause State Monument invites you to visit it free of charge from 10:00 - 16:00. The tomb of the Blind King John of Bohemia is a masterpiece by the famous Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and is one of the most important architectural monuments in the Saar-Obermosel region.

The Open Monument Day® always takes place on the second Sunday in September. The day of action is coordinated nationwide by the German Foundation for Monument Protection (DSD). Since 1999, the DSD has organised the Open Monument Day under a different motto each year. In 2025, the motto of the Open Monument Day will be ‘Valuable: priceless or irreplaceable?’
