Open rondleiding door de culturele gieterij

Open tour of the only bell foundry museum in Germany.

The former bell foundry Mabilon is the heart of today's KulturGießerei. Located below the castle and outside the city walls, Urbanus Mabilon founded a foundry in 1770, thereby creating a family tradition that lasted almost three centuries. Bells were cast in Saarburg that found their way out into the whole world. Today, the bell foundry is owned by the city and preserved as a museum, cultural, and meeting place. The museum traces the footsteps of Urbanus Mabilon, showcasing the creation of a bell from the first step to the last. Visitors can discover beautiful pieces and items that have found their place there since the 18th century.

During the open tour of the only bell foundry museum in Germany, visitors immerse themselves with all their senses in the 230-year history of the bell caster family Mabilon and the process of making a bronze bell. These bells found their way around the world; the last bell cast in 2002 rings in Lima, Peru. Participants embark on a journey through the space and time of the bell foundry craft!
