Concert | Porta³ Festival
With the Donots, the line-up for the tenth anniversary of Porta³ offers a remarkable synthesis of the arts. After R&B/hip hop/soul and pop, honest punk/alternative rock is now coming to the heart of the city. There are probably several reasons why the Donots want to come to Trier: Their '30 Years Tour' fits perfectly with the Porta³ Festival's birthday, and their celebration philosophy exactly matches its characteristics: no 'higher, faster, further', but maximum party with maximum stage proximity. The Porta Open Air has made a name for itself precisely for this, as the grandiose transparent stage offers the best and closest view of the enthusiastically filled but never unpleasantly overcrowded square in front of the Porta Nigra.
Just the right thing for the Donots, who made a conscious decision to get closer to the fans for their birthday party after the tours and halls have become bigger and bigger in recent years and almost all of their concerts have been completely sold out. Partly responsible for this: their 12th studio album 'Heut ist ein guter Tag', which was the first to reach number 1 in the German album charts in 2023. The five rock musicians will not only have its songs with them in front of the Porta, but also real hits such as 'Whatever Happened to the 80s', 'Calling' and 'Stop the clocks'. Oh yes, and of course a very special guest who is sure to bring a tear or two of joy to the faces of rock fans. Who that is is yet to be revealed. But the Donots can already guarantee it: Anything other than incredulous enthusiasm is hardly imaginable. And this means that 'Auf sie mit Gebrüll' should be a real recommendation for action: get your tickets, secure them and join the Donots in slamming 'Das wird alles einmal uns gehören' in front of the Sandsteinlatz. She will be looking forward to this appropriation on the evening of June 21.
The Porta³ Festival will end on Sunday, June 23, with an admission-free picnic concert in front of the Porta.
