Portes Ouvertes Via mosel' at the Dr Frey winery

Via Mosel - Open Days:
Experience the most beautiful wineries and wine locations of the boundless Moselle Valley over a weekend, known for the quality of their tourist infrastructure as well as for their remarkable historical or contemporary architecture.

Throughout the entire Moselle, the Via Mosel wineries selected by a panel of experts will open their doors and gates for visitors on the first weekend of April. In addition to wine tastings, a diverse program centered around wine architecture awaits you: exciting building tours, architect talks, builder stories...

The Dr. Frey winery is open from 14:00 - 18:00 and offers the following program points:
Exhibition: Ecological Construction & Renewable Energy – implemented concretely.
Tasting: Open tasting of organic wines from the 2024 vintage.
Guided Tours: German-speaking guided tour on timber solid construction, biomass heating, PV and solar thermal at 14:00, 15:00, and 18:00 o'clock.

The Winery:
The existing old building (constructed in 1964) of the winery was expanded in 2012 with an extension (intergenerational living), as well as supplemented by the new winery building (events and sales, wine storage, office, guest apartment) and a machine hall with a heating center.

The timber solid construction has a high degree of prefabrication, allowing for quick on-site assembly. Additionally, the winery is heated by biomass such as miscanthus, wood chips, and pellets, while the rooms are warmed by underfloor heating using active clay building panels.
