Open-Air Music Festival
Some careers begin in conservatories, others in a parking lot near Salzburg: The story of Quadro Nuevo started in 1996 with a fee squandered at a casino. What remained was a distinctive sound and a thirst for adventure that has since led the ensemble from Carnegie Hall to the Caucasus. For their audacious way of making music, the group has been awarded two ECHOs, a Golden Record, the German Record Critics' Award, and several Jazz Awards.
In Trier, the virtuosos present themselves in a lineup bursting with joy of playing: While Mulo Francel switches between saxophone and mandolin, and D.D. Lowka sets the rhythm, Andreas Hinterseher draws longing tones from the rare vibrandoneon, anchored by the creativity of pianist Chris Gall. With their album HAPPY Deluxe, they weave a tribute to moments of happiness – sometimes as a chill daydream, sometimes as a wild tango. No matter where the journey and the fee may lead this time: The jackpot is won by the audience in the Brunnenhof anyway.
