The scythe mowing is an environmentally friendly and gentle method for maintaining green spaces – completely without noise or fossil fuels. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the basics of scythe mowing as well as the technique of snedding to optimally sharpen your scythe
and keep it ready for use.
Topics:
- Introduction to different types of scythes and their uses
- The correct posture and movement while mowing with a scythe – energy-saving and efficient
- Practical exercises: Mowing in the meadow under supervision
- Snedding and sharpening: How to keep your scythe in top condition
Who is the workshop suitable for??
The seminar is aimed at beginners and anyone who wants to improve their technique in scythe mowing. No prior knowledge is required. Nature conservation enthusiasts and farmers are also warmly welcomed. We want to introduce you to the joy and benefits of traditional scythe mowing. With the right technique and a well-maintained tool, this work becomes a sustainable and nature-oriented alternative
for the maintenance of meadows and gardens.
What should you bring??
- Own scythe for inspection (if available)
- Scythes, sharpening stones, and sharpening stone holders will be provided
- Sturdy clothing, sturdy shoes, and work gloves
- Good mood and interest in practical work
