The two-time scholarship recipient of the Berklee College of Music as well as the winner of the Steven D. Holland Award and award-winning author Ro Gebhardt celebrates guitar music at its finest at the Guitar Special together with the passionate guitarist and founder of the band "Starkstrom," Rainer Wollmann. They are supported by two exceptional rhythm talents, Alec Gebhardt, a young student at HFM and the youngest award winner of the Cultural Association Neunkirchen, and Jonas Drobczynski from Mainz on drums. Ro Gebhardt: Studies in composition at the University of Cologne, author with the German Music Edition Award for "Jazz-Alphabet" & "The Art Of Guitar-Duo", CD & video productions ranging from solo to big band with predominantly original compositions, and worldwide tours including concerts at Blue Note / New York, Central Park Jazzfest NYC, Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, etc. Guest lecturer at various universities such as the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts in New York, HFM Köln, Music & Arts Malta, Jazz & Rock School Freiburg, etc. "Best R'n'B/Soul Song" and "Best Jazz-Rock Song" by the German Pop Foundation.
8 PM: X-CHANGE - The Return of a Legend
X-Change stands for honest, handmade rock with plenty of pressure behind it. Founded in the early 90s, the band quickly became a well-kept secret in the southwestern German rock scene – and beyond. With a sound that oscillated between groovy hard rock and melodic rock, along with an energetic stage presence, X-Change earned a reputation as a ruthless live band.
What began as a collaboration of five experienced musicians quickly became a mainstay on countless stages – both in their home region and in neighboring countries. Over 100 performances in just two years speak for themselves. With the addition of a keyboardist, X-Change expanded stylistically even further without giving up their uncompromising character.
Whether major city festivals, scene clubs, or open-air events with several tens of thousands of spectators – X-Change has rocked them all. Highlights like the legendary performance at the Rhineland-Palatinate Day in front of over 35,000 people or the collaboration with Radio Rockland, which even had stages rolling on 32-ton trucks, remain particularly memorable.
Until 2013, the band toured regularly, shaping an era of regional rock culture. Now, over a decade later, it's finally here: X-Change is back! A unique revival concert brings the sound, power, and passion back to the stage.
Those who were there back then know: this will be big. Those who missed it now have the chance.

NEW: Freaky Days in the Kurpark on the Kueser Plateau on July 3rd and 4th!
Summer stage on Thursday and “Chill out” on Friday – these are the Freaky Days, 2 days of musical summer feeling! A meadow in the Kurpark will turn into an event location with a stage for live bands, food and drink stalls, and a picnic area to "chill" on July 3rd and 4th. On Thursday, starting at 6 PM with "Ro Gebhardt & Rainer Wollmann feat The New Generation," a jazz musician and a passionate guitarist, accompanied by young rhythm talents, will kick things off – along with "X-Change – The Return of a Legend." The rock band, successfully founded in the early 90s, shaped an era of regional rock culture until 2013. Now, over a decade later, they are back and part of the "Freaky Days" on Thursday evening. On Friday, things continue at 5 PM. Musically, the Desert Rock Kids will play – a band from the workshop for disabled people of the DRK Social Service in Bernkastel-Kues. A colorful bunch of musicians with various disabilities, united by their passion for rocking. The second band is "The Sure Dreams," performing their Motown Show. Four ladies who take you back to the era of the 60s, with Motown, glitter, and glamour. Thus, the unmistakable style of Motown, a distinct mixture of R'n'B, soul, and pop, comes to the Kurpark – to celebrate, dance, and sing along!
